Monday’s English Premier League action features Everton and Southampton facing off in the mid-afternoon for American viewers. Everton comes into the match sitting seventh in the 2021 EPL standings, cooling off a bit after a red-hot start. With that said, the club is coming off a 2-0 win over defending champions Liverpool — albeit after a set of back-to-back losses. Dominic Calvert-Lewin leads the club in scoring this season with Colombian star James Rodríguez also providing a big impact with five goals. On the other side, Southampton currently sits in 14th place, looking clear of relegation at this point. However, the club is in the midst of a spiral right now. The haven’t won an EPL match since Jan. 4 against Liverpool, going 0-1-7 during that stretch, including a 9-0 loss to Manchester United and a 1-1 tie against Chelsea. Danny Ings and James Ward-Prowse have led the club this season offensively.
Here’s how you can watch the game.

Everton face two games this week that could go a long way towards determining whether they will be playing in Europe next season, or slipping into midtable mediocrity again. Southampton are the visitors today with the Blues’ form at Goodison Park as hollow as the empty stands, and Carlo Ancelotti knows that getting back on track at home is of paramount importance.
With just Yerry Mina and Jean-Philippe Gbamin injured, this might be the fittest Ancelotti has had his squad all season. The Saints had easily overwhelmed the Blues in the reverse leg of this fixture, and the manager is going to have to find a way to keep his players at the intensity levels they showed against Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United in previous weeks.
Ralph Hassenhuttl’s side meanwhile have fallen off from their table-topping days earlier in the season, and his injury-stricken squad have picked up only one point in their last eight games.

The Blues traveled to the coast early in October leading the league, but were unable to match Southampton in intensity, losing 2-0. Arguably Everton never recovered from then and are still struggling to string together two consecutive Premier League wins since December, so a win today will go a long way towards earning vengeance for that loss.
Everton actually have a decent record at home against the Saints, last losing a game to them in the 1997-98 season, and winning ten and drawing six since then. The last time they visited was during Project Restart with Danny Ings giving the the Saints the lead and Richarlison equalizing before the break as the 2019-20 season petered out.
